Getting Paid on Zeprill: Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about getting started, Stripe verification, payments, payouts, and fees.
How does Zeprill work?
Zeprill makes it easy to accept payments without needing to build your own payment system or website. You create your Zeprill account, connect your Stripe account, and use Zeprill to accept payments from your customers.
Do I need a registered business to sign up?
No. You can sign up as an individual. If you don't have an LLC, corporation, or other registered business entity, select "Individual" when Stripe asks about your business type.
I'm a freelancer. Why is Stripe asking me for business information?
Stripe may ask for information about what you do and how you operate as part of its verification process. Being asked for business information does not necessarily mean you need to have a registered company. If you're working as an individual freelancer, provide information that accurately describes you and the services you provide.
Do I need my own website?
No. You don't need your own website to use Zeprill. Depending on what Stripe asks for during onboarding, you may be able to provide your Zeprill profile or payment page, a social media page where customers can find you, or a description of the products or services you provide.
What do I put for "business website" if I don't have one?
If you don't have a separate website, you can use an available Zeprill page or another online page where customers can learn about what you sell or the services you provide. If Stripe gives you a description field instead, briefly explain what you sell or what service you provide.
What do I use for a Tax ID if I don't have an EIN?
If you're signing up as an individual and don't have an EIN, Stripe may ask for your Social Security number (SSN) for identity verification and tax reporting purposes. Only provide the information Stripe requests through its secure onboarding process.
Why does Stripe need my Social Security number?
Stripe may require personal information, including an SSN, to verify your identity and meet payment and financial-services requirements. This information should be entered through Stripe's secure onboarding flow.
What name do I enter for "business name"?
If you're signing up as an individual, use your legal name as requested by Stripe. If you operate under a registered business or a Doing Business As (DBA) name, follow Stripe's instructions for your business type.
Can I use my personal bank account?
If you're operating as an individual, Stripe may allow you to use a bank account associated with you for payouts. Follow the bank-account instructions shown during Stripe's onboarding process and make sure the information you provide is accurate.
Will my information be shared or made public?
Your Stripe verification information is not displayed publicly to other Zeprill users. Stripe may require and process personal or business information as part of its identity verification, compliance, payment-processing, and payout requirements.
What happens after I submit my information?
Stripe reviews the information you provide. Once your account is successfully verified and eligible to receive payments, you can begin accepting payments through Zeprill and receive payouts according to the applicable Stripe payout schedule. Verification can sometimes require additional information or documents.
What if Stripe asks me for additional verification?
If Stripe requests additional information, documents, or verification, follow the instructions shown in your Stripe account. Additional verification requirements can vary depending on your account, business type, location, and other factors.
What does "Restricted" mean?
If Stripe shows that your account or connected account has a Restricted status, it generally means there are requirements that still need to be completed before certain payment or payout features can be used. Check the Stripe onboarding or account information shown to you to see what is still required.
Why can't I receive my money yet?
If you can't receive a payout yet, there may be an outstanding Stripe verification requirement, a problem with your payout information, or another restriction on the Stripe account. Check Stripe for any outstanding requirements and complete them before contacting Zeprill for help.
How do I get paid?
Customer payments are processed through Stripe. After the applicable payment and account requirements are satisfied, funds can be paid out to the bank account connected to your Stripe account. Payout timing and availability are determined by Stripe and can vary by account and circumstances.
How much does Zeprill cost?
See Zeprill's current pricing information for the latest details. Stripe may also charge separate payment-processing, payout, or other applicable fees.
Are Stripe fees separate from Zeprill fees?
Yes. Stripe's fees and any Zeprill fees are separate. The applicable Stripe fees depend on the payment method, account, transaction, payout method, and other circumstances. Check Stripe's current pricing and your Stripe account for the fees that apply to you.
What happens if a customer wants a refund?
Refunds and payment reversals are subject to the payment and Stripe account rules applicable to the transaction. If you need help with a payment or refund, contact Zeprill support.
What happens if a customer disputes a payment?
A payment dispute or chargeback is handled through Stripe's dispute process. If Stripe notifies you about a dispute, follow the instructions and deadlines shown in your Stripe account.
What payment methods can my customers use?
Available payment methods can depend on your Stripe account, transaction, customer location, and the payment methods enabled for your account. Zeprill will support the payment methods available through its current Stripe configuration.
Can I update my information later?
You can return to your account settings to update eligible information, add or change a bank account, or make other changes. Some changes may require Stripe to verify your information again.
Is my bank information visible to other Zeprill users?
Your bank-account information is not displayed publicly to other Zeprill users. Stripe handles the banking and payout information associated with your connected account.
Can I use Zeprill if I'm a freelancer, creator, or individual service provider?
Yes. Zeprill can be used by individuals who want to accept payments without setting up a separate registered business, subject to Stripe's eligibility and verification requirements.
What should I do if Stripe won't verify me?
First, check Stripe for the specific requirement or error message. Make sure the information you provided matches your official records and that any requested documents are clear and current. If you still can't complete verification, contact Stripe Support using the support options provided by Stripe. If you believe there is a problem specifically with Zeprill's integration, contact Zeprill Support and include the relevant error or message.
